Planar Wart Removal Tips

A planar wart is one that is generally in one's foot – most likely the heel area- and what that is quite painful. Such a wart can make walking difficult and even wearing socks or shoes like sneakers can aggravate the condition. There are many different forms of planar wart removal you can try. The following are just some of the many options available to you.

Over-the-Counter Salicylic Acid

One great form of planar wart removal is to use some salicylic acid. This item is available in most drug stores and has proven to be successful in removing the warts in three to four weeks. Once you purchase this item, you need to apply it to the wart twice a day and should also take the time to rub off any dead skin that may be around the wart. Often, you can apply the acid for planar wart removal as a patch or in the form of a solution. Use a nail file to remove the dead skin and try not to touch the area with your bare hands. When using the acid for planar wart removal, be careful to concentrate it only on the infected area: the acid can irritate unaffected skin.

Liquid Nitrogen

Often called cryotherapy, liquid nitrogen is a great mode of planar wart removal. Here, a doctor will freeze a person's wart with the nitrogen. To do this, they apply the item to the wart using a cotton-tip applicator. Though the treatment can be quite painful, it has been known to help folks remove the wart more quickly than other forms of planar wart removal. Often, a doctor will suggest that other methods be tried first, especially if this is a person's first wart. This treatment is much more expensive than other forms of planar wart removal that are available today.

Duct Tape

One of the easiest ways to rid yourself of a planar wart is to use duct tape. To do this, you put the tape on the wart and leave it in place for a week. After this period of time, you wash the area, dry it, and then rub off the wart skin with a nail file. If you use this kind of planar wart removal, expect it to take about six to eight weeks for it to work. Duct tape is one of the least expensive methods of planar wart removal and has been proven just as effective as other treatments.
