When prepaid phones first came out, they were very expensive and they did not do much. For me, prepaid was always the way to go, as I did not want to be locked into a contract. My first prepaid mobile phones were very simple, and that was all that they had. In fact, they did not even take pictures, though that was common for other phones at that time. There are tons of new phones on the market, and it is hard to get the newest through prepaid, but you can get some really good ones along with some really great features.

In the past, prepaid was the bare minimum. The phone calls all had a fee to connect and then there was a per minute fee that you had to pay. This worked well for me at the time because I did not use my phone for a lot of things, but was more concerned about having on in the case that I had an emergency when I was away from home with my daughter. The selection of prepaid mobile phones was small, but that didn’t matter to me then.

After a while, I was tired of having one of the prepaid mobile phones that did nothing more than make calls and sent text messages. Everyone was sending pictures back and forth, and even doing videos. By then, I was using my phone more, and I was wishing that mine would do more. I went in to look at the newer prepaid mobile phones and was happy to see that things had gotten much better than they were when I first got my first prepaid phone.

Some of the plans that come with the current prepaid mobile phones are actually almost as good as what you can get with a contract, depending on what you want to do with your phone. I went through Verizon and got a rather new Razor. This was for fifty dollars a month. I have to pay for text and pictures, but they come out of the fifty dollars. Not only that, but the prepaid phones from which I could choose all came with some free daytime minutes, free nights and weekends, and free Verizon to Verizon calls. I was delighted to have all of that for less than what many of my friends were paying for through their contracts.

If you are thinking about prepaid mobile phones, now is a good time to go out and look. Many come with all of the things you can get with a contract like uploading music, storing pictures, and sending video. Mine has mapping and can go online as well. As long as you understand the prices that you are going to pay for your prepaid mobile phones and options, you are going to be very happy with what you can do.
